My paintings explore how an experience interacts with mindset or memory to create a place that’s unique. An environment feels different when distractions are suppressed and a place is fully felt. My work depicts people and objects interacting with the natural world. I typically start with observed and remembered imagery, and add multiple layers of color. I endeavor to create a role for element on the canvas, so that the subjects and their environment become enveloping and alive like a closed ecosystem.
